Executive Summary

Insight·LAC produced the publication “Roadmap for the Strategic Adoption of AI in Argentina’s Provinces,” a document designed to support subnational governments in developing strategies for the ethical, inclusive, and development-oriented adoption of artificial intelligence. The study examines the transformative potential of AI for regional economies, public services, and strategic value chains, while proposing practical tools to strengthen provincial capabilities and accelerate technological adoption across Argentina.

The publication approaches artificial intelligence as a general-purpose technology capable of redefining production processes, business models, and forms of social organization. From a socio-technical perspective, it analyzes key challenges related to governance, ethics, algorithmic bias, data protection, institutional capacity, and talent development. It highlights the need to build place-based strategies that enable provinces to harness the potential of AI to reduce inequalities and enhance regional competitiveness.

The document identifies concrete opportunities for AI adoption in strategic sectors such as agribusiness, logistics, and transportation, including applications related to intelligent automation, predictive maintenance, process optimization, data analytics, computer vision, and generative AI. It also presents a practical roadmap structured around five phases: diagnosis and prioritization, capability assessment, creation of enabling conditions, pilot implementation, and the scaling of AI initiatives at the provincial level.
